Congratulations Garrett, you've already exited the Watchtower. Good fortune for the rest of your life. -

Garrett, since you suffer from severe depression have you gone to see a doctor?
Depending on your personal history and diagnosis they may prescribe medication that could help. I know this from personal experience since I too have suffered from severe depression all my life. I remember sitting at the meeting one day and, for no reason at all, was about to start crying. I wish my elders had counseled me about getting help instead of the usual "pray to Jehovah" crap.

Welcome Garrett.
It's sad that they emphasize getting in hours but don't spend 10 minutes with their own members when in need. You should find this site to be most interesting and helpful.
Whatever you do, don't put anything in writing. Just fade until they no longer notice your absence from the meetings which seems to be the case already.

Is Jehova's Trumpet for real?
by StarTrekAngel inbecause regardless of having seen a lot of bad things, if true, some of the things i read there have reached new thresholds of bs.

i posted some comments there because i was sincerely confused as to the nature of their article.. http://jehovahstrumpet.com/brother-survives-nazi-persecution-disfellowshiped-for-smoking/.

A random HISTORY of that old rugged cross used by JW's until 1931
by TerryWalstrom incorinthians 1:18, holman christian standard bible "for to those who are perishing the message of the cross is foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is gods power.
an austrian radiologist, hermann moedder, experimented with medical students in the 40's, hanging them by their wrists with their hands directly above their heads (much like the watchtower pictures jesus on a stake).
in a few minutes, the students became pale, their lung capacity dropped from 5.2 to 1.5 liters, blood pressure decreased and the pulse rate increased.

Samaritan At the Well: "...the article said something to the effect "does it really matter if he did or not"".
It does matter to them if they make a claim that the cross is a pagan symbol with evil intentions by Satan in having people use it.

If I remember correctly, the JWs in their Babylon the Great book, made the following arguments.
1. The cross was derived from the pagan Egyptian symbol known as Crux Ankh which looked like this
This cross was supposed to be a phallic symbol incorporating the genitalia of male and female. As you can tell by the image that argument is stretching it quite a bit.
2. Then there was the argument that compared the Christian cross with the Babylonian Tammuz cross which actually looked like a cross.
The counter argument is that the t shape is so simple that someone is bound to use it even if there is no connection with each other. A child doodling with a pencil or a chimpanzee with a paintbrush could draw a t .

I actually got through the meetings ok - I was still a believer, somewhat. It was in field service that I would suffer from anxiety attacks. -

Could you tell us a few?
